Speleogenesis.info Network is a non-profit, open-access platform designed to promote integrated efforts of the international community of cave and karst scholars in information exchange and collaboration. SG Network is a hub for people and institutions involved into karst and geospeleology studies, who want to stay informed and connected with colleagues around the globe and have various field-specific networking and information tools at their regular disposal. This site is the result of the evolution of the Speleogenesis.info, which started in the early 2003 as an open-access scientific journal (Speleogenesis and Evolution of Karst Aquifers) but gradually evolved into a hub for international information and collaboration in the field of karstology and geospeleology. Now the Journal (www.speleogenesis.info) and the Network (www.network.speleogenesis.info) are the separate although closely related resources.

Hypogenic Speleogenesis Conference (Ukraine, May 2008): Extended deadline
The International Conference on "Hypogenic Speleogenesis and Karst Hydrogeology of Artesian Basins" will be held in May 2009 in Western Ukraine (Chernivtsy), an internationally recognized model region of hypogenic speleogenesis in stratified artesian settings. The region hosts the world's largest gypsum maze caves. Field excursions through karst areas of Bukovina, Pridnestrovskaja Podolia and Pokutje will be organized between and after scientific sessions. They will offer a unique opportunity for participants to familiarize themselves with a spectrum of evolutionary types of karst (from deep-seated to entrenched), presented in the region. Field trips will serve to illustrate scientific and practical issues of hypogenic speleogenesis, karst hydrogeology of artesian basins and engineering geology of covered karst.
Thesis and Dissertations Directory has been reopened in the Speleogenesis Network
As you know this section is established for publication of titles and abstracts of BSc MSc and PhD thesis relevant to karstology and geospeleology. This will help young researchers make their works better known to the scientific community of karst and cave scientists, and make readers aware of works, many of which remain unpublished and overlooked. We kindly ask our readers, especially those who are university professors and thesis supervisors, assist us in publicising this opportunity among scholars. We call for thesis titles and abstracts (extended abstracts can include few "key" figures), which can be supplemented by the link to full works if they are available on the web.

KIP and Speleogenesis:
The Speleogenesis site reconstruction coincided with the launch of the Karst Information Portal (KIP). The goals of KIP and Speleogenesis.info Network largely coincide but this does not mean competition and duplication of efforts. The UIS Commission of Karst Hydrogeology and Speleogenesis is one of the KIP partners. Speleogenesis.info Network serves to support and internationally promote the KIP development as an evolving global karst information initiative. The two sites are coordinated in both organisational and technical aspects.
KIP has a broader scope and a major role in integrating existing resources in the whole field of cave and karst science.
Speleogenesis.info Network is biased to karst and geospeleology areas. It further develops its previously established community services and is focused on initiating and developing new resources and services of need for the community, especially those where broad international linkage and networking is crucial. It will serve as a test ground for new networking/collaborative initiatives aimed to creation of new resources. When established, such resources will be integrated to KIP.
This site critically depends on initiatives and input of Speleogenesis Network members and the broader cave&karst community. The site is one of the tools for the research community to initiate and develop collaborative projects and organise efforts on serving its own needs.
Everyone willing to contribute to fostering global collaboration in cave and karst science and developing relevant information services and research resources is kindly invited to register to the Speleogenesis Network. The Network offers a number of possibilities to keep you informed and involved.
